ABOUT THE ARTIST

Bartolomeo (Bart) Celestino is a Sydney-based artist known for both his fine art photography and films, but equally for his creative role as co-founder/editor of LOVE/WANT magazine (a globally successful publication commenced in 2005). Trained in the new topographies by western European photographers, Celestino's fine artwork is technically refined and sophisticated, abstract, conceptual and always well considered. Playing on the nuances of line, form and colour, his contemporary portraiture also has minimal 'nouvelle vague’ sensibilities, there is a slightly melancholic cinematic feeling with a strong sense of composition. In his films the connections are not obvious, the shots are often long and beauty is always wed to yearning. Images that give pause. Attraction that is ambiguous.
